Disability leave

What is a disability leave?

Disability leave is a period when an employee is temporarily unable to perform his or her job duties because of a medical condition, injury, or other medical reason.

The incapacity for work is confirmed by an official document, such as a sick leave certificate. During this time, the employee is released from work and their position is retained. Depending on company policy and legislation, compensation may be provided for the period of incapacity for work.

Often employers introduce additional support measures for employee absences in such cases, such as health insurance or access to medical consultations.

It is important to remember that these periods of disability absence are not only regulated by law, but also help to create a safe and supportive work environment.
